ACP Platform Principles Summary

These are in no order of importance please check out the full platform plank for full details if more details are listed in following sections.

Economy-Stability, Growth, and Opportunity

The American people are the hardest working people in the world. Our desire to provide the best for ourselves and our families along with our desire to improve constantly is what has made this nation great. This is the same recipe for the 21st century that succeeded in the 20th. The ACP believes government’s role is to empower and equip the American people to achieve their own success, for themselves and our nation. When our workers and businesses succeed so does America. The American Centrist Party supports:

Credit Information Protection:

    1. Personal credit information protected similarly to HIPPA regulations.

    2. 3 Year Maximum for Credit Information on file.

    3. Release of credit information must be authorized in writing by consumer.

4.25% of credit information transfers/sales go to consumer.

Employment:

  1.  Expand federal job training and continuing education programs for those on unemployment or those who financially qualify.

  1. Expand job training and continuing education programs at community colleges and universities to working Americans. This program would allow working adults to retrain and educate themselves without upfront money or the hassle of financial aid. This program would allow working Americans to retrain and go to school while having money deducted from their current paychecks to pay for schooling, retraining and books.

  1.  The ACP is in favor of offering tax incentives to companies that keep their work force 85% or more American.

  1. The ACP is in favor of restricting governmental contracts for companies that relocate the majority of its corporate and production overseas. The ACP is in favor or promoting government contracts for American companies over foreign companies and companies that relocate overseas in the above said manner.

Employee Rights:

1. Currently, single mothers are a protected class, meaning that they cannot be legally discriminated against in the workplace.  While this is a step in the right direction, single fathers should be included as well.  The law should be amended to be "single parents" as fathers are increasingly retaining custody of their children after divorce.

2. The ACP supports parents taking care of their children’s health. Employers should be aware of this and provide unpaid time during the day for parents to provide for their children’s' medical needs.

3. Index the minimum wage to rise with cost of living increases.

4. Most states are so-called "at will" employment states, and can fire employees at will for no reason.  The ACP disagrees with this policy and believes that employers should provide a written explanation of an employee's termination stating a verifiable reason for the termination.

Trade:

1. The ACP supports the policy of having an independent review board of current Congresspersons, Economic Advisors, Business Advocates and Labor Advocates to review all US Trade Agreements and Policies currently in effect and on board to be in effect. The ACP is in favor of all trade agreements being reviewed and voted on every one to five years depending on the nation.

2. The ACP is not in favor of Fast Track trade authority for the President of the United States.

3. The ACP also supports trade tariffs on imports that undercut American products and labor.

4. The ACP favors a balanced approach where each item of trade is negotiated on an individual or related group basis. i.e. (automobiles would have a tariff where apples and oranges would not or would have a lower tariff or quota).

5. The ACP supports free trade and free trade is a great benefit for and ideal world. We do not live in an ideal world however. This is why the ACP supports free trade with heavier monitoring and the right to renegotiate trade deals. While the ACP supports free trade the ACP knows that America must first provide for America.

Welfare Reform:

All American citizens who receive any type of welfare funds or assistance under the TANF program, Food stamps, and Housing assistance components of welfare will be required to have their case reviewed by an impartial committee to see if they will be financially able to begin paying back a certain percentage of total assistance received after completing two years of full time continuous employment, whether or not they are still on the welfare system.

Internet & Media Policy:

1. The ACP supports Internet Neutrality.

2. The ACP opposes any legislation that would allow Internet Service Providers to discriminate in any way between websites or users based on their size, influence or payment or amount of payment.

3. The ACP is against further Media Consolidation and is wholeheartedly in support of the most independent media our nation can have.

4. Ban Internet taxes to protect the growth of the Internet as an economic engine for America.

5. Ban any new cellular technology taxes.
