ACP Platform Principles Summary

Infrastructure- A 21^st century infrastructure for a 21^st century America.

America’s infrastructure is in great need. It is evidenced by our failing power grid, bridge collapses and failure of levees around the nation. Our infrastructure is key to our American way and quality of life and to our nation’s economy. A failing infrastructure will only help cause a failing economy. In many areas or our nation our infrastructure is several decades old. It is time to reinvest in America’s future and infrastructure will be a key. The American Centrist Party will look at repairing our 20^th century era infrastructure as well as prepare and initiate a new 21^st century American infrastructure. Thus, the ACP supports:

Flood Protection Maintenance:

1. A review of all levees and or retaining walls or other flood control devices constructed throughout the nation that are 15 years or older will be required.

2. Any levees (etc) that are found to need repairing will be repaired by the Army Corps of Engineers and private firms as needed.

3. The cost of the review and repairing of levees (etc) will be shared by the federal government (70 percent) state government that levee is in (20 percent) locality that levee is in (10 percent).

4. The levee (etc.) will be built and maintained to withstand the flooding level that is appropriate for that area. Maintaining of levees (etc) will fall under current budget assignments and costs.

5. The levees (etc) will have this major federal review again every 30 years.

a. The ACP will amend this as needed if further meetings with engineers and appropriate personnel indicate a need for it to be amended.

High Speed Rail/Mag Lev Rail:

1. The ACP supports investing in nationwide high speed rail service or magnetic rail service.

2. This will help unite America and decrease pollution, create jobs and make travel easier.

3. The ACP plans to pay with this by using funds from our Reinvestment in America plan which by cutting redundant programs in the budget can invest money without raising taxes.
